Base Plate Wax (Molding Wax Sheet)

Base plate wax is a dental material, typically a rigid but moldable pink or red sheet, used to create the initial shape for dentures and for trial bases. It is composed of paraffin, microcrystalline wax, and resin, and is designed to be easy to shape and carve without flaking or chipping, while also being rigid enough at mouth temperature and clean enough to be cleanly boiled out. It is used for setting artificial teeth, establishing the arch form, and registering the bite before the final denture is completed.
